I couldn’t bear the thought of not posting about my baby turning 5. Both my girl’s whole lives and major milestones have been documented here! So, without further ado, Isla turns 5!
We were actually camping on her birthday, so we haven’t celebrated with a party yet.
This girl… let me tell you. She’s only been on this earth for 5 years but I can’t even imagine what my life was like without her! She is so bright and beautiful, so full of spunk and sass. She loves to sing and LOVES to dress up. Her favorite food is cheese and she eats it all day long. She loves her Momma and never leaves my sight. She’s strong and smart. She is a world changer. I love you, my Isla Reese! Happy 5th year!
On another note, Cohen finished 1st grade. I can’t believe she’s going to be a second grader in just over a month! Isla will be joining her big sister at school, too! I can’t wait to watch these two hand in hand going to school together. Life is moving at lightning speed and I can’t seem to grasp it all! Before I know it my girls will be starting school and in ONE short year I will be applying into NURSING SCHOOL! God is good.
Thank goodness for iphones! Here are a few recent pictures of our Summer thus far ;)
Here is Co on her last day of first grade! She rocked that bad boy! My baby is SMART! Wow!
My little Isla girl on her last day of Pre-school. She blossomed SO much at school! I am SO proud of this baby girl.
The girls had their FIRST trip to Disneyland in May! We surprised them the morning of! It was so magical!! I can’t wait to go back. Happiest place on earth!
We took the girls camping for the 4th of July and over Isla’s birthday. Let’s just say… the girls had fun :) Note to self. BUY A CAMPER.
The girls went to the drive-in for the first time! <3
Summer evening twirls are the usual around here!
I couldn’t WAIT to see these beauties bloom!
We rented a pontoon with friends! The kids had so much fun swimming and eating TONS of snacks. Isn’t that the epitome of boating!?
The girls, my Mom, and I all hiked up to the top of the dunes at the beach. The view was insane. The girls taking in the view.
We did our annual blueberry picking at a new farm in Corvallis. It was amazing! 14 different kinds of blueberries! WHAT!? Who knew there was that many types of blueberries!? Not me. We made it through about 7 kinds until the girls were about to pass out from heat stroke.
My FIVE year old and me.
There you have it! Summer thus far <3 Here’s to an amazing last month of Summer and a new journey for Fall!

Well, Monday my little itty bitty Isla Reese walked right into her preschool like a boss and just like that, she’s in school! With her curls bouncing and her hazel eyes batting she kissed me goodbye. No tears were shed (by her at least) and after 3 hours I was there picking her up! She was all smiles. I can’t really even talk about how fast she’s growing up. I’ll start bawling and trying to talk and no one wants that business. I’m so proud to be the mother of these two gorgeous, wonderful little girls. I feel truly honored to be their Momma!
Rocking polka dots and floral like it aint no thang.
and that’s that.

Well. Summer is over. Our relaxed carefree days in the sunshine are coming to an abrupt end. If I think about it too much it starts to make me a little depressed. Once the rain starts it doesn’t end. No more swimming pools, popsicles, sprinklers, warm evening walks to the park, trips to the dog park, saturday markets, BBQ’s, and freedom. The dog days are over.
My baby is a officially a 1st grader. She started school yesterday. I’d love to sit here and say that it was rainbows and unicorns with cupcakes and sprinkles coming out their butts but it wasn’t. There were tears, LOTS of tears, screams (demon like), heartbreak, sadness, and a lot of anxiety. Cohen was scared. It was a new school, new people, new everything. She went from a small class of 16 at her kindergarten to a massive class of 29. Luckily, she had the familiar face of a little neighbor friend in her class but the emotions took over and nothing was going to make that girl stay in her new class. After some love from us, her principal, and the school counselor she went into her class and at the end of the day told me, “it was so much fun!” Oh. Thank. GOD! Those words were healing to my broken mommy heart! I cried all morning. I shopped for stuff I didn’t need. I ate everything sweet in sight. I drank about 50 cups of coffee. I wore sunglasses in the store because my eye’s were like hot tamales. I missed my girl SO MUCH. I couldn’t wait to scoop her up and kiss her little button nose!
Our reunion was great and she told me she “will stay in her class tomorrow instead of freaking out”. I calmly obliged.
This morning went perfectly. She walked in and acted like she had been going for weeks. Cohen is such a confident, independent girl. To see her feel so helpless and sad was one of the worst feelings I could have felt as a mom. All I can do is thank God today was 100% better! NOW I can relax and know she’s actually having fun, like she should.
Here are some first day of school pictures of my little angel girl!

Today my little Isla is 4! I can’t believe it. What an amazing joy she is. She stops people and turns heads with her beauty. She’s sweet as pie and she is the light of our lives!! She loves to dance and is a professional princess impersonator. She rocks a rapunzel wig like no one’s business and picks out a wicked outfit! Her laugh sends me over the moon and her snuggles are better than dessert! She’s smart, silly, and sassy. We love you, baby girl! Happy Birthday!!

Summer is cupcakes with sprinkles, rainbows and unicorns, glitter and sequins. It’s sleeping in and lounging around. We play hard and soak up every second we have with that big golden ball in the sky. We rock out to oldies, eat fruit by the gallons, and drink iced coffee like it’s going out of style! The slow cooker comes out, the BBQ gets uncovered, and the pool gets filled to the brim! Summer is friends, family, love, laughter, outdoors, suntans, the smell of coconut sunscreen, the taste of ripe watermelon, stars in the sky, amazing sunsets, painted toenails, blonde highlights, naps on the lawn chairs, tank tops, sun dresses, walks in the evening, fans blowing, popsicles for days, are you seeing my vision!?
When I was little a few Summer memories stand out above the rest. I remember long sprinklers in the yard, slip-n-slides, wearing my cousins swimsuits, playing outside ALL day, my three wheeler and lots and lots of freckles. All I remember are wonderful and happy thoughts. I love watching my girls make Summer memories. I love traditions. My dream is to start camping again. That’s all we did when I was little and it was some of the best times I remember as a kid. I know my girls would love growing up with those memories as well.
Today we have soaked in every ounce of Summer and I’m so thankful I have two of the most beautiful, sweet, and amazing little girls to share it with!
I think the Thomas girls would look perfectly fabulous camping in this… don’t you?
Cohen is determined to get her second front tooth out! She’s going to be eating baby food again if she keeps losing those baby teeth!
I’m pretty proud of those veggie plants! They were tiny and now they are literally taller than me… ok I know that doesn’t impress you but when a tomato plant towers over you, you feel like a pretty amazeballs gardener.
Twinkles lights ery’ where!
My little cherry addict. Let’s just say she stays very regular….
Oh yeah, and that gorgeous hazel eye’d baby girl turns 4 tomorrow! *insert hysterically crying mom here*
My loves are growing up!

I can’t believe it’s 2013. I can’t believe in 2 days Isla will be 4 years old. I can’t believe in less than a year I will be 30. Life zips past you so quickly it’s hard to take it all in! We’ve had amazing weather the past couple weeks and today was no exception. Tonight we will celebrate our independence with a roasted pig, lots of friends, and a pool! I love building memories with my girls. Happy 4th of July!!
What kid didn’t use their mom’s bra as goggles?
A good way to start the day!
These girls make me so happy. I never knew a dog could bring so much love and joy in to my life. She’s an angel to us!

Today has been blissful. I woke up to a huge golden sun shining through my window directly onto my face. I kissed my two angels who were still sound asleep, made my coffee, sat outside and listened to the birds singing, headed off to get a crown on my tooth (even this didn’t put a damper on my mood) and just allowed myself to soak in the goodness surrounding me. We had our favorite girls over for some fun in the sun and pool time. I know I wont always have days like this…. I know Summer will come to an end and the cold and rain will come back (the thought makes me cringe) but for now I can’t get enough of life.
Vin and I went to San Francisco for the weekend and left the girls with my momma. It was fabulous. I love the city. I couldn’t live there but to visit makes me feel so adventurous and alive! I love the diversity and the energy in the city. Vin spent most of the time working so I took on the city alone. I walked about 1000 miles and saw the most beautiful sights. I ate amazing food and drank amazing coffee. I took a bazillion pictures and people watched for hours. It was a wonderful. Getting home to my girls was wonderful too. I can’t be away from them too long!
Traveling is something so important to me. There is a whole world out there and I want to experience it! I hope I have the chance to do it someday.
Now for pictures!
And there you have it. Another day, another blog!
